The farther I drift from that time, the more it blurs.
It’s like trying to remember a dream after waking—
the images fade, but the feeling lingers,
somewhere between night and morning light.
I used to chase that feeling,
like it was hiding in the static,
in the reflection of a screen,
in the spaces between one life and the next.
Now it’s just gone.
Tucked away in some corner of my mind
that doesn’t want to be found.
Sometimes I think I only remember the good parts,
but maybe that’s just another trick of the brain.
Because there weren’t any good parts.
It was all bad—
I just didn’t realize it until it was over.
